Subluxation Chiropractic care analyses the spine to ensure connections from the brain are flowing optimally by identifying and removing subluxations. Subluxations are when a region of the spine is misaligned, preventing the proper flow of nervous system communication throughout our bodies. Subluxations can be caused by chemical, physical, and/or emotional stress. A chiropractic adjustment is a safe and powerful way to remove subluxation and restore optimal function to your body.
At OYBC our doctors combine chiropractic adjustments with physiotherapy, and various modalities to remove subluxation from the body. These modalities can include therapeutic ultrasound, athletic tape, myofascial release, interferential current, and much more.

Pregnancy is another time where our bodies go through an enormous amount of change very quickly. Chiropractic care during pregnancy can ensure a less traumatic birth process for both mom and baby. There are many gentle techniques that can be used throughout pregnancy, or even before conception to help a woman prepare her body for what is to come. Webster Technique is one of these, and Dr. Lexie Romero is certified by the ICPA to utilize Webster to ensure optimal positioning of the pelvis for childbirth. Chiropractic care throughout and post pregnancy will allow the body to heal and express health at its fullest potential.
Chiropractic care can be helpful for your child's development, from infancy into adolescence. At Optimal You, we firmly believe in protecting a child’s body by making sure they have the best possible functioning nervous system. We all say that children bounce back quickly, but that is related to how they emotionally feel; however physically and structurally, that is not always the case. Many times, what may be considered a minor issue at first can progress into major growing pains, so that is why we’ve implemented proactive wellness programs for children.
Physiotherapy works on the treatment of injury, disease, and disorders through the use of physical methods. These physical methods include exercise, massages, movement and manipulation of the trouble area, and other various treatments such as medication and surgery. Musculoskeletal physiotherapy can be used to treat injuries such as sprains, back pain, muscle strains, arthritis, and posture problems. Neurological physiotherapy helps heal problems within the nervous system. These disorders can include stroke, spinal cord injuries, and Parkinson’s disease. The three most common types of treatment therapies include manual therapies, exercise programs, and electrotherapy techniques. Manual therapy may include treating the problem area through joint manipulation, mobilization, resistance training, and stretching. Physiotherapy also utilizes exercise therapies such as muscle training, strength training, and cardiovascular training.
Chiropractic is a system of therapy focused on the structure of the body, particularly the spine. Chiropractors manipulate the body's alignment to relieve pain and improve function to help the body heal itself. While the mainstay of chiropractic is spinal manipulation, chiropractic care may also include other treatments, including manual or manipulative therapies, postural and exercise education, and ergonomic training (how to walk, sit, and stand to limit back strain). Research has focused on spinal manipulation for low back pain. As one of the alternatives to pain-relieving drugs, the American College of Physicians low back pain guideline recommends spinal manipulation along with heat, massage, and acupuncture. Chiropractic therapy popular primarily for two big reasons: it is a cost-effective, safe alternative to other forms of treatment for chronic pain and it experiences a high rate of client satisfaction.
Biomechanical alterations make athletes more susceptible to injuries. Targeting specific muscles in training will help counteract these dysfunctions, restore proper mechanics, and increase neuromuscular control. IASTM is a unique, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively and efficiently address soft tissue lesions and fascial restrictions resulting in improved patient outcomes. At OYBC we use specially designed instruments with unique treatment edges and angles to deliver an effective means of manual therapy. The use of the IASTM instruments, when combined with appropriate therapeutic exercise, leads to the restoration of pain-free movement and function. The instruments also are used diagnostically to assess the kinetic chain, in an efficient manner using the principles of regional interdependence. Kinesiology Tape can be used to treat sports and non-sports injuries, including shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runner’s knee, and back pain. K-Tape microscopically lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia below, creating a decompressive effect.
Migraines and Headaches
Nine out of 10 Americans suffer from headaches. Some are occasional, some frequent, some are dull and throbbing, and some cause debilitating pain and nausea. Research shows that Chiropractic Adjustments may be an effective treatment option for tension headaches and headaches that originate in the neck. A 2014 report in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT) found that interventions commonly used in chiropractic care improved outcomes for the treatment of acute and chronic neck pain and increased benefit was shown in several instances where a multimodal approach to neck pain had been used1. Also, a 2011 JMPT study found that chiropractic care, including spinal manipulation, improves migraine and cervicogenic headaches.
The Activator Method uses a small, hand-held instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument to deliver a gentle impulse force to the spine with the goal of restoring motion to the targeted spinal vertebra or joint. It is an alternative to the traditional manual form of spinal manipulation, known as the high-velocity low amplitude (HVLA) thrust. Low force, no twisting or popping, but equally as effective activator is the preferred method of treatment for patients who desire a low impact alternative.
Adult & Elderly Care
Chiropractic care is a healing art that focuses on a healthy lifestyle and believes in the function of the nervous system at an optimum level to achieve that lifestyle. Beginning at the spine and extending out, chiropractic care stresses wellness care within the idea that many ailments are the result of the body’s inability to properly heal itself. This care believes that proper function of the nervous system helps restore the body’s innate healing ability from infancy to adulthood. Various techniques are used to address each patient concerns safely, and effectively in all stages of life.

Headaches have many causes, or “triggers.” These may include foods, environmental stimuli (noises, lights, stress, etc.) and/or behaviors (insomnia, excessive exercise, blood sugar changes, etc.). About 5 percent of all headaches are warning signals caused by physical problems. The remaining 95 percent of headaches are primary headaches, such as tension, migraine, or cluster headaches. These types of headaches are not caused by disease; the headache itself is the primary concern.
